Amongst the famous love-hate stories in the gustatory preferences, garlic definitely is a classic, bordering mysticism, attributed with medicinal properties (folkloric or scientific) and some obscure "powers". Although it has been so for ages, it’s still going on strong, no pun intended!

Some could do without it, but I’m part of the aficionados. Truth is, many traditional recipes would not be the same without this very special ingredient. Can you imagine pesto without garlic? The famous French aioli would simply not exist. Garlic is also widely used in most Asian recipes; from Korean kimchi to Thai curry paste.

No matter how we feel about garlic, surely no one is indifferent to it!
